There are so many new gluten-free products on the store shelves these days it’s hard to keep track. And then there are all the items you can order via websites, catalogs, and phone.
Although this is exciting, I find it also a bit overwhelming. I don’t know about you, but I hate spending money (and typically a lot of money) on a new food product, only to find it tastes just so-so, or even worse, disgusting.
While I can’t promise these products will be hits at your house, here are three gluten-free products that have proven very successful at our house this month.
Gluten-Free Licorice: Yep, this stuff really does exist, in both red and black. The red licorice Scottie dogs (which are too cute) were a gift from my sister. The whole family enjoyed them, however they were annoying sticky; as in you need to brush and floss after eating a few of these puppies. Although people of all ages are sure to enjoy these, I think they would be particularly cute for a child’s party. What kid doesn’t love a cute puppy?
Gimbals Fine Candies is the maker of these sweet treats. This company is a dream come true for candy-lovers who happen to suffer from food allergies. They are free of the 8 major food allergens and no high fructose corn syrup (although these aren’t health food people, they are still candy with artificial coloring, flavorings and such).
Personally, I have been confused about what baking chocolate and chocolate chips are truly gluten-free. Thankfully, I noticed recently that my favorite brand Guittard is now marked gluten-free and peanut-free! We are particularly fond of the extra dark 63% chocolate chips. We make a delicious Truffle Brownie using these chips, if you need a recipe idea!
Although the refrigerator case is full of yogurt options, we found a case of this Greek-style yogurt at Costco on a recent trip and had to give it a try. All-natural ingredients (no artificial colors, preservatives, sweeteners, or flavors) and best of all, it’s certified Gluten-Free! Chobani Greek Yogurt is a new breakfast favorite at our house.
We have discovered some mold issues with these yogurts. We contacted the company, apparently mold is an issue in several of their flavors. YUCK!
